VIETNAM - Heritage and the Poor - Hoi An - Nov 2011
Hoi An is a well-preserved example of a southeast Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. Its buildings and its street plan reflect the influences, both indigenous and foreign, that have combined to produce this unique heritage site. This November 2011 report by Andre Alexander, part of ACHR's heritage cities project, attempts to assess how the poor in the city are affected by the city's World Heritage status.
